You may be aware that there are new European Union regulations coming into force from 1st July 2013 that will mean many Construction Products need to be CE marked. Effectively, in simple terms if a product has a harmonised EN Standard (which are replacing certain British Standards) and is listed in one of the many categories included with the Construction Products Regulations it will be illegal to sell it within all e.u. member states, including the UK, from the date that the CE marking becomes mandatory for that product category.

To try and simplify the issue of CE marking in respect of the Cromar BP Ltd’s products that you purchase we trust the summary below will give you the outline details you need.
If you have any specific questions our technical services department will always be available to advise or if you would like to view the E.U. Website providing guidance on this issue then go to: http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/policies/european-standards/harmonised-standards/construction-products.
With regards to the products you buy from Cromar we already have everything in place and are fully audited for Factory Production Control (FPC) by the BBA and have nearly completed the testing of our products, with particular emphasis on those that need to be CE marked by 1st July 2013, in short by the date a product has to be CE marked anything you purchase from Cromar will be CE marked.
This directive requires manufacturers to “CE” mark certain product ranges which are used as construction products. From this date, it will be illegal for manufacturers to place a product on to the market which is not CE marked, which is covered by a CE standard.
This legislation covers a broad spectrum of products, and requires the manufacturer to:
1. Test his products and ensure they conform to the relevant EN standards
2. Have a system of Factory Production Control in place (FPC)
3. Issue a Declaration of Conformity/Performance that the above measures are in place
4. Mark the products packaging/carton with the CE logo and associated test information
The following is an assessment of the Cromar products covered by hEN’s, along with Cromar's current position regarding each range:
